Night Bloomer

This skinny cactus grows from the ground, up the tree and blooms at night for one night for one night only!
The blossom is huge!

See the spent bloom, below along side a fresh one.

Good Afternoon Jeanne, How lovely to see these flowering cactus. My husband used to grow them when we lived in Cyprus and I was always fascinated by the fact that this beautiful flower would flower at night, only last a day before it withered and died, but as your photograph shows there is always another beauty which follows.
Thank you for reminding me of these cactus flowers.
Best Wishes

Beautiful bloom!
Not sure if is the same as the one I have, but very much like it. I think I read somewhere that the night-bloomers are pollinated by a moth that is only active at night so that's when they bloom. Mine blooms twice a year mid-summer and again in the autumn. Of course, here in north Mississippi we move it inside the house in the winter.
Lovely photo!
