Harvest Mantle

It is a week into October and I hadn't decorated my mantle yet.

Horrors!  Fall only lasts so long!

Mr. Me was commissioned to find the autumn tub of decorations and bring them in while I removed
the summer mermaids.

These figurines I have had for many years.  They always come out in autumn.
The shabby bowl is piled high with unidentified dried seeds.

The first year we were married I sent this copper butter warmer to my in-laws for
their anniversary.  It has proven very useful since it works with a tea light.
I thrifted the plate last year.

It's still a bit coastal with my sea rock and shell I purchased (not found) on our road trip to Sanibel Island.  I was not ready to take down my grandfathers painting which, anyway defies nailing it down to a season.

The tiny details are fun to add in.  A bird camouflaged and a special carved walnut that is usually in my showcase, but is always brought out and featured in fall.  My older son brought it from Manila.

This pheasant was inherited from my husbands father

The mantle looks great but I agree, your Grandfathers painting is wonderful and should be displayed year round!

Autumn come and go with you, and yet in this lifetime, i still might not be able to see it. My few travels to temperate climes somehow always coincide with spring, i don't know why that is!

Your Autumn mantle is beautiful, love all the color going on. I haven't even begun to decorate yet, the temps as of yesterday have just started to cool off. Maybe now I will get in the mood to bring out some decorations.

Isn't it wonderful to have inherited treasures. I do really think the painting would be a staple if any season. The pheasant really says autumn.
