Pink Salt

Image
I read somewhere  that Pink Himalayan salt is the best salt to use to reap that all important mineral, Iodine.  So I looked for it in the grocery and several other places and didn't find it. I decided to order it from Amazon and along with the salt I saw this cute bamboo salt box.   It is attached in one spot so it swivels open and  when you move it back into place it connects with a tiny magnet to shut tightly.  Adorable! Now the wonderful thing is that pink salt also contains 80 other minerals as well as Iodine.  Nothing has to be added to it.   White refined salt is essentially devoid of all nutrition, They are required by law to add Iodine but it isn't absorbed by the body as well as the pink salt that contains it naturally.    Pink salt is a raw, full spectrum salt and all full spectrum salts have color to them.  The pink Himalayan comes from ancient salt caves formed from the sea.  So that's...

Crusin' Again on the Carnival Splendor

Image
Spring break and my annual visit from my eldest daughter and her family took a new twist as we cruised together on the Carnival Splendor for a seven day trip to the Eastern Caribbean. This is about the very first day and a little bit of exploring on this amazingly beautiful ship! A little bit of background...We had an opportunity to go with my brother in law and his wife on a cruise.   He worked for Norwegian Cruise Lines and gets a killer employee rate for himself and all who cruise with him.    We had a cruise lined up with the Norwegian Epic and seven days before we left, there was a massive shake up as NCL merged with another company and my brother in law lost his job along with more than 63 others. There was a mad scramble to find another cruise in the same time frame during Spring break!  Yes, the ships were sold out everywhere.  We paid almost three times the price but landed the last two cabins in the Carnival Splendor.  Since my brother in la...

The entire chair was painted pink.  Who would have thought to paint upholstery?   It was comfortable to sit in and this painted chair was oh so fun to look it.   Overwhelmingly Pink. Florida Flamingos!

Image
I finally saw my first Flamingo since arriving in Florida almost two years ago!   It took a visit from Shelly and a ticket to Busch Gardens.  I enjoyed the flamingos more than anything else in the park.   They were so far away on the other side of the fence I had to use my zoom but in real life they were simply beautiful.    I attempted a short little video so I could capture their movements and sounds That lush pink color is more of a salmon pink, not quite the bright pink like the two pretty plastic flamingos I received a few days later for my birthday!   My grandchildren know the way to my heart! I'll be sharing on the June 15th Pink Saturday  blog and Ivy and Elephants  and Lavender Garden's Cottage Style Party!
