Disney World's Contemporary Resort

Image
My curiosity about Disney's Contemporary Resort has been piqued ever since my first visit to Disney World the exciting new Monorail shockingly whisked me through the middle of it.  One could see inside, but with only a limited tantalizing view. Disney resorts are open to the public and anyone can visit for up to four hours and enjoy the atmosphere, so we took a day and visited The Floridian Resort , The Polynesian Resort  and the Contemporary Resort Many visits later I was still as intrigued as ever and so was Bill.   We were excited to have the time to finally explore it. On the day we took exploring three Disney resorts, The Contemporary Resort was our second stop. When you step out of the Monorail this view is quite impressive. There are 18,000 hand painted and fire glazed cut tiles  in the lobby Yes, I should mention the artist, Mary Blair.  She also did the designs for It's a Small World.   She had worked on several films for Di...

Stunning Polish

Image
I was wearing this color when I went to buy some very conservative polish.  It looked fun and so I impulsively picked this up.   Now, don't you think that this is some stunning polish?  I did my nails as soon as I got home while talking a blue streak to Mr. Bill about a class I had just attended.   I left the paraphernalia on the table and waved my hands around drying them while he and I watched TV. We spent all day together the next day without a word about the neon blue, but I noticed he moved all the manicure paraphernalia and I got a "look" as he remarked that this was HIS table area.    I was sure when we went to church that evening a possible scathing remark would be forthcoming from my conservative man.  But he was good.  I matched my clothing to my nails and added some bright green and a multicolored scarf.  You couldn't miss me.   We were so busy I forgot about everything else.  Anoth...

Disney World's Polynesian Resort Hotel

Image
When we first arrived at Disney World we took the boat over to the Magic Kingdom.  Mr. Bill remarked, as we passed the Polynesian Resort, he never had any desire to stay there.  It looked boring to him from the outside.  I hadn't thought much about it, but I did like the lit torches when we passed by on the monorail.  I decided this trip, since we had a free day, we would stop in and tour the three hotels on the line.  We toured the Grand Floridian , the Polynesian Resort and the Contemporary Resort From a distance it doesn't look too exciting.  I could understand his lack of enthusiasm.   When we stepped off the monorail however, the entrance was incredibly gorgeous.  The waterfall was something we hadn't noticed as it was somewhat hidden from the view of the passengers riding.  It was framed by colorful blooms and multiply kinds of foliage.  Completely setting the stage for a visit in the South Seas.   Inside ...

Something New to do at Disney World

Image
While in Disney World Bill and I did some hotel hopping.  We visited three of the hotels on the Monorail line.  It was a lot of fun to see the inside, the gardens and pools.  We have seen them from afar for many years but never had the time to take the tour.   While at the Polynesian Resort we impulsively rented a little boat and went out on the lake, cruising by the Disney World entrance!  Who knew this amenity was available to anyone, not just hotel guests.  There is a fee, but it was quite reasonable, especially by Disney standards. We also went by the Disney's Contemporary Hotel and under the Monorail itself! It wasn't until we were out in the middle and on the way back that I noticed the clouds were darkening and a storm was 'abrewing! We made it back in the nick of time with only a sprinkle of rain.  Far less rain though,  than the boat spray in my face and the gallons that splashed in over the edges!  :-) ...

Thoughtfulness

My hubby surprised me with a caramel apple tonight.   He made it himself!  He unwrapped the caramels and melted them on the stove.  Next time he will use a double boiler he promised.    He put three wooden skewers together  to form a handle, taped together at the bottom.   It was full of texture, chewy and delicious.   Am I a lucky duck or what? A Chance Encounter

Image
My sister and I had a wonderful afternoon yesterday.  We geared up and moved out of our respective comfort zones and took a trip into St Petersburg to see an art glass exhibit.  We ventured out alone.  Just the two of us. It was deemed best to arrive early so we could have a bite to eat and absorb the atmosphere of this artsy area.  We found a little deli full of atmosphere and decided to share a bottle of wine and a hot sandwich there instead of a more pricey restaurant. A young 30something cashier waited on us and since it was early in the evening, it was slow and we had a chance to talk to him.  You never know who you might meet when you open a conversation.  Our wine was from Cupcake Vineyards in Livermore and we were surprised. We grew up nearby and hadn't know of a winery there.   As he uncorked it, he mentioned while on tour he had visited a local winery in that area.  "On tour?"  we asked.  It seems he had been a profe...
