My granddaughter Lauren graduated in May from Western Kentucky University in  Bowling Green, Kentucky Mom, Dianne, brother Ryan, Lauren and Dad, Chris Congratulations Lauren!   After Party at the hotel!   My Graduation Portrait of Ryan, who graduated two weeks later from Batavia High School this past May Congratulations Ryan!   I had to be sneaky about getting a picture at home!   My kids all supportive gathered for Ryans Graduation.   from L to R  James, Shelly, Dianne and William Later there was a great big party at the house: But no pictures!   And Not to be outdone..... Dianne's new pup Finn graduated also!    Obediance school is very important!     

It's been quite a while since I've done any blogging and I have really missed it.   I know there are some of you that have been very loyal to me and check my blog for new content and I've let you down.  I've had such fun with doing my art on YouTube that I was exclusively there.   But I am going to try and combine the two!  After all, there is more to life than Art!   I travel so much and have so many activities I really need both mediums.   It's not easy to find certain videos on YouTube so I will leave my latest video here at the bottom, but I want to have a record of my personal life here, places visited and events attended!   In January I mentioned I had a wedding coming up and three graduations!   so here is an update!    MyGranddaughter Kyra married the love of her life, Nick on January 18th 2019 Her dad and Talon, his service dog walked her down the aisle The wedding was lovely, candle l...

Wind and weather were the keywords yesterday as a heavy wind blew in 2019 last night at midnight. I came home early from a party to bring in the new year at home.  My son and his cute dog Stout were here and we poured sparkling grape drink into tall glasses and watched the bubbles rise and pop as the ball rose up in Times Square.  At least that's what I intended!  Alas I was popping the top off the drink as the ball went up and I missed it!   Stout!   But 2018 was such a dramatic year I am hoping that 2019 will go on and go out like a lamb.   Looks good, with a wedding and three graduations in the future!   So  Happy New Year!  Happy 2019!  

I really enjoy sitting down and doing collage work in my journal.  It's especially nice when it's a seasonal journal in a season that is as nice as this one, This is one of the pages of my reverse collage book.  A reverse collage means you collage around your favorite images already in the book.   Here is a link to my book:   More news is my Christmas Cactus bloomed!   I bought it on clearance last April and kept it in an Eastern window all year,  This fall it budded out and then bloomed in early December.  Blooms are still flowering!  This is the Christmas cake I plan to make again this year.  I have made it every year since the late 80's.  It's my favorite cake and I could eat it all year around but save it just for the holidays.   It's a Jello Poke Cake. I'm sitting in my empty home with a good bit of sadness at leaving my haven.  We came with high hopes and looking forward to wonderful retirement years.  We were prepared to do our best to see that Mom was always taken care of and comfortable.  We planned to have beach days, take road trips, cruises and enjoy Disney.  Family was close by.  We had a perfectly sized home, renovated to suit us and was easy to care for,  It was a wrench to leave our family up north, but the cold was too much for Bill and the prospect of warm winters was a relief to us both. We arrived July 30, 2011 with everything we wanted from our old home.  Dianne and Chris helped us  pack and came down and helped us settle in.  Everyone was excited, Mom had a welcome sign of course and there was a vase of fresh flowers on the counter in our newly renovated home. This month I am participating in Make a Mark March.  Each day a special mark is featured when doing a mixed media piece.  Now you don't always have to use just one mark,  but the mark for that specific day must be included in your submission. It is simply a challenge, not a contest so it's all for fun but I have been challenged by learning new ways to incorporate uniqueness in my backgrounds.  For example: The dark crackly marks were achieved by wrapping a rubber band around a stick and rolling it in paint, then rolling it on the painting.  Each mark is different and lends a certain discord, which adds to the theme of the piece.

Last night I got to spend a little time with Charlie Daniels.....as an audience member...of course! I was up close and personal! It was a great show! He is a wonderful entertainer. My best friend purchased tickets awhile back but her friend couldn't go and I was up here in Ohio early so I was given the seat! I have not listened much to country music once I grew up, but I still enjoy it and enjoyed the show. He played a couple of cover songs, a tribute to Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen. Also How Great Thou Art. He is a wonderful fiddle player! He didn't miss a note on the fiddle but missed a few words on the songs....he is 80 now and still touring full steam. The big hat and sunglasses onstage were probably the only thing I didn't like. I couldn't see his face. But all country stars wear their hats! The sunglasses probably were to protect his eyes from stage lights. Which actually I was not a fan of those audience lights! His light show flashed bright white ...

Bessie got her annual bath today. She had many patches of mossy green on her and her flowers had blown away some time ago, so she was ready! Of course I'm always a day late and a dollar short. The entire family was here last month but admired Bessie anyway in her mossy pathetic state with only her bell around her neck. She can be easily seen from the street now because I sold the truck last summer. It annoyed me that the best place, the only place really to park it was in an opening in the woods right in front of her. So you could glimpse her from the road briefly but only I saw her in all her glory from the carport. From my front window I occasionally see cars slowing down to get a better look or show the kids. She is worth her weight in gold! Since she is solid cement that would be quite a chunk. When I move back to Ohio she is going with me. She is quite the traveler. She Originally lived in Kentucky, then Ohio and now Florida.   She has logged quite a few miles ...

OLD CONCORD Strolling down memory lane!   My Son Billy (and Ruby) are moving out to a city very near Concord California and my daughter Dianne with my grandson Ryan in tow, went along to help drive the second vehicle out there. Billy had never seen Concord but Dianne was born nearby and lived in Concord for her first six weeks at my parents home.  We moved to Pittsburg and then later at about six months old, she and I moved back to an apartment in Concord for a year while her dad was overseas on a tour of duty.  We moved to the midwest when she was 21 months old and we only went back once. She and Billy went to visit yesterday and sent unrecognizable photos.   Where is the Concord that I grew up in?   I scoured the internet and came up with these photos.
