Beach Fail

We have had a successful beach day, but it  wasn't today!  

We brought all the arsenal.  Three beach umbrellas, the cooler, a picnic lunch, chairs, boogie boards, towels and a multitude of smaller personal items. 

We trooped over the bridge in happy anticipation


When we crossed the footbridge over the dunes, the winds were at 14 MPH and the waves were four feet high and coming in one after the other.  The beach was peppered here and there with people but only one or two who braved the rough seas and went out for a swim.


The winds made the boogie boards hard to control...







The umbrellas were carefully set up, tee shirt rippling in the wind.  It only lasted a few minutes before it turned inside out several times.  It was quickly returned to the case and we decided to forgo the shade in favor of lunch. 



Sandwiches were hastily made and handed to those sheltering from the blowing sand ....



Those who did not shelter under towels had a somewhat crunchy lunch



And there were those who clearly wished they were anywhere but here today. 


So after we finished lunch, we all looked at each other and decided this was a Beach Fail.  

We packed up the umbrellas, chairs, cooler, boogie boards, etc, etc. and trudged back across the bridge and went back to the rented condo where there was a nice clean safe swimming pool sheltered in a sunny area, with the high rise condos blocking all wind.

So, we left the umbrellas, cooler, chairs, boogie boards etc. etc. in the car and had a wonderful afternoon after all floating around on noodles and sunning ourselves on poolside lounge chairs.

That is a beach fail! I spotted a pink and orange towel in one of the pictures, we have the same exact one.

Glad you had a great pool day after the not so great beach day.. :)

Sorry about the beach fail, but it seems as if you took the day and saved it after all. No harm, no foul.
(Except for the SANDwiches!) LOL

Sorry about your beach fail...Mother Nature does not always cooperate. It sounds like you ended up having a lovely time by the pool, and more important, you were spending time together! :-)

Sometimes you just can't fight Mother Nature! :) The beach looks lovely, though...I hope you get a chance to give it another try.

We had a Family Fun Night at our church on Wednesday Oct 31 and the public was invited to participate via flyers and signs.  The two hour fun night had several event areas.  In the sanctuary the teens had a fun 10 minute skit they put on every half hour of the evening.  The one side of the church's parking lot had a huge bouncy house and a dozen or so carnival games with prizes and the other side of the church on the parking lot we had a Trunk or Treat.   I participated on the Trunk or Treat event and unfortunately was so busy I didn't get over to the other events for photos. Disney World's Polynesian Resort Hotel

When we first arrived at Disney World we took the boat over to the Magic Kingdom.  Mr. Bill remarked, as we passed the Polynesian Resort, he never had any desire to stay there.  It looked boring to him from the outside.  I hadn't thought much about it, but I did like the lit torches when we passed by on the monorail.  I decided this trip, since we had a free day, we would stop in and tour the three hotels on the line.  We toured the Grand Floridian , the Polynesian Resort and the Contemporary Resort From a distance it doesn't look too exciting.  I could understand his lack of enthusiasm.   When we stepped off the monorail however, the entrance was incredibly gorgeous.  The waterfall was something we hadn't noticed as it was somewhat hidden from the view of the passengers riding.  It was framed by colorful blooms and multiply kinds of foliage.  Completely setting the stage for a visit in the South Seas.   Inside the decor was tropical and spacious with o

James' Summer Plans

Youngest kid, James has a full summer ahead after such a busy spring. This is nothing compared to the events coming up this fall for him! European Festival Tour : The Christian Metal band, The Devil Wears Prada has returned home to the states after a successful two weeks playing music festivals all over Europe. Download Festival, at Donington Park in Leicestershire, England was the final show. Here is a clip just prior to The Devil Wears Prada taking on Main Stage: Download Festival Song Release After arriving home, Ferret Music released one song, Born To Lose, from their highly anticipated album, which will remain unnamed until the release date.
